Filson Historical Society Lecture: Pioneer Textiles

Special Guest, Maureen Lane, Curator of Museum Collections at the Filson Historical Society will be joining us at Blackacre for an evening to discuss Eliza Tyler Sturgeon (1791-1833) and the 11 textiles she made. These textiles open a window into life in the First American West and include stories of the Atlantic trade, the Ohio River, women and farm life, enslaved labor, the production of cloth, hardships on the frontier, the War of 1812, and a woman with an independent spirit.
