Our summer camps offer a one-of-a-kind opportunity for children to explore Blackacre’s natural habitat through hands-on discovery, outdoor play, and meaningful connection with fellow campers. From farm to forest, campers learn, play, and grow in a setting designed to spark curiosity and confidence.
Exploration Camp
Exploration Camp focuses on discovering the wonders of nature! Campers will experience a variety of interactive explorations on the preserve. They will become scientists investigating our ecosystem including the diversity of animals, plants and microorganisms. Other activities include photography, crafts, team building activities and time with our farm animals. It’s a week of fun, adventure and discovery. Campers will see up close and learn about fascinating species and their habitats.

Minecraft Camp
Get ready for a camp where the virtual world and the natural world collide! This unforgettable week blends real-life outdoor adventure with creative digital building.
Part of each day will be spent exploring our 300-acre preserve, including waterfalls, forests, ponds, cliffs, meadows, a working farm, and our community garden. Campers will investigate each area’s unique environmental challenges and discover how nature works firsthand.
The other half of the day takes place in our computer lab, where campers will recreate and map out Blackacre Nature Preserve inside Minecraft. They’ll design improvements, build solutions, and imagine what a healthier, more sustainable Blackacre could look like—all through the power of creativity and technology.
It’s the perfect camp for curious kids who love nature, adventure, and Minecraft!

Wee Explorers Half Day Camp
Is your child new to day camp? This is the perfect camp for them! In our half day camp, they will explore, hike and enjoy nature through crafts, activities and open-play. Blackacre is the perfect place for children to connect with nature and meet new friends.

Surviving The Wild: Pioneer Camp
Campers will step back in time as they explore Kentucky’s heritage through hands-on adventures at Blackacre’s 1790s pioneer farm and surrounding natural areas—including ponds, forests, and open fields. Each day is filled with nature investigations, pioneer crafts, creative arts, and classic outdoor games.
Campers will even meet a special guest from the 18th century who brings history to life! Pioneer activities may include candle making, butter churning, traditional songs, and more.
Throughout the week, children will enjoy daily interactions with our farm animals, nature hikes, garden explorations, and time to explore our historic barn and homestead.
It’s a week of imagination, discovery, and old-fashioned fun.

Teen Exploration Camp
Our Teen Exploration Camp invites adventurers to discover the wonders of nature up close! Campers will take part in hands-on activities across the preserve, including hiking, goat feeding, horse grooming and saddling, and fishing. In addition, they will receive intensive lessons on orienteering and rappelling where they learn and participate in these advanced outdoor activities.
Throughout the week, campers will enjoy team-building challenges, gardening, ecology and geology lessons, and special time with our farm animals.

Children’s Art Camp
Young artists will spend three creative mornings exploring nature and turning their discoveries into art. Each day begins with a guided exploration of the preserve, visiting places such as the pond, the garden, and the farm animals to spark imagination and inspiration. After their adventure, campers will return to the art space to create a special project with local artist Molly Rhode.

Little Sprouts Half-Day Camp
Weekly camps offer the ultimate forest school experience. In this serene, open-air classroom, trees take the place of walls. Grass and dirt cover the area like a beautiful carpet. Trails become endless journeys and wonderful experiences for children.

Dates: Weekly in June, Monday thru Thursday
Time: 9:00 am – 12:00 pm
Ages: 3-5
Cost: $150 per week
Children must be fully potty-trained
