Camps

Our  various day camps offer a unique environment to explore Blackacre’s natural habitat while providing meaningful and lasting connections with other campers.   Plus, each child will receive a super-cool camp t-shirt when they sign up!

Early camp registration opens January 4, 2024 for members and January 15th for the general public.

Exploration Camp (June  3-7) 

Our Exploration Camp focuses on discovering the wonders of nature! All age groups will experience a variety of interactive explorations on the preserve. They will become scientists investigating our ecosystem including the diversity of animals, plants and microorganisms.   Other activities include photography, crafts, team building activities and time with our farm animals. It will be a week filled with fun, adventure and discovery.

Campers will meet amphibians from different continents and learn about how they live, eat and protect themselves in the wild.  Kids will get an opportunity to see animals up close and personal.

Class: K-5th

Cost: $250 full-day; $150 half day

Minecraft Camp (June 10-13) 

Get set for Minecraft camp at Blackacre! It will be a summer your child will never forget!  It’s where the virtual world and physical world collide.  Part of the day, they will explore our almost 300- acre preserve with waterfalls, forests, ponds, cliffs and meadows, and learn about environmental challenges. The other half of the day they will work in the computer lab in teams to create and map out their own Minecraft World where they come up with solutions.

Class: age 9-14 

Cost: $250 (Four full10

Wee Explorers 1/2 day Camp 

Is your child new to day camp?  This is the perfect class for them!   In our half-day camp (five days), they will explore, hike and enjoy nature through crafts, activities and open-play.  Blackacre is the perfect place for children to connect with nature and meet new friends.

Surving the Wild; Pioneer Camp (June 17-21) 

Experience Kentucky’s pioneer heritage at Surviving the Wild Pioneer Camp. Campers journey through Blackacre’s 1790s pioneer farm and natural surroundings, participating in nature activities, crafts and games. Campers will learn some survival skills. Enjoy candle making, butter making, and daily interactions with farm animals, along with nature hikes, gardening, and barn and homestead exploration

Class: K-5th

Cost: $250 full-day; $150 half Day.

JR Minecraft Camp (June  24-27) 

Get set for Minecraft camp at Blackacre! NEW Teen Explorer Camp (July 8-11) 

Our Teen Exploration Camp expands on our Exploration Camp for younger students by offering more advanced lessons and more physically demanding hikes and other tasks. The goal is for campers to engage with Blackacre’s natural, historical, and agricultural areas in a fun and enriching way. One unique feature of Teen Exploration Camp is that campers will collaborate as a team to complete a multi-day project on our grounds!

Class: 6-8th graders

Max. 12

Cost $250 (four full days)

Our half day camp offers the ultimate forest school experience. In this serene, open -air classroom, trees take the place of walls. Grass and dirt cover the area like a beautiful carpet. Trails become endless journeys and wonderful experiences for children. Children must be fully potty-trained.

About the teacher: Sienna Graulich is Forest School Certified and has a degree in Elementary Education.
